Central to the effectiveness and safety of the fire service have been
the adoption and implementation of the Incident Management or Incident Command System (ICS). As its name implies,
ICS is a systematic approach, comprised of as many as eight components, to establishing a chain of command and division of responsibilities at any
given incident. It promotes efficiency, clarity, and safety in the execution of firefighting and rescue operations.
